Fashion has never been easier to buy, but finding clothing that feels genuinely individual can be surprisingly difficult.
At DLuxe, I wanted to create something different.
Rather than producing clothing in huge quantities, DLuxe focuses on British-made womenswear, handmade in England in small and limited runs. Every collection begins with the fabric, develops through the design process and is then cut, sewn and finished with care.
For me, that is what modern luxury should feel like.
Made in England, not mass produced
Many fashion brands design clothing in the UK before sending production overseas.
DLuxe works differently.
The pieces you see across DLuxe collections are designed, cut and handmade in England, allowing much more attention to be given to the details of each garment.
From the way a fabric falls to the positioning of ruching, straps, lace or finishing, these smaller production runs allow each design to be considered individually rather than simply becoming another item on a production line.
It also means DLuxe clothing isn’t being produced by the thousand.
Many designs are available in extremely limited quantities, with some styles restricted to only around ten pieces.
Once they’re gone, they may genuinely be gone.
Why small-batch fashion is different
Producing clothing in smaller quantities changes the whole approach to fashion.
Instead of deciding how to manufacture thousands of identical garments as cheaply as possible, the focus can remain on the garment itself.
The fabric.
The fit.
The construction.
The finishing.
And ultimately, how the person wearing it feels.
Small-batch production also allows DLuxe collections to evolve naturally. A beautiful fabric might inspire an entire design, while another piece might change several times during the making process before reaching its final form.
That process is part of what makes independent fashion special.
From handmade swimwear to statement womenswear
DLuxe isn’t designed around one type of clothing.
The collections move between handmade swimwear, bikinis, lacewear, bodysuits, evening pieces, separates and limited-edition womenswear, while keeping the same underlying philosophy.
Each collection has its own mood.
Winter Sun is inspired by destination dressing: rich colours, beautiful textures and swimwear designed for escaping the traditional British season.
After Dark moves into evening dressing, with lace, velvet, statement textures and more dramatic silhouettes.
Different collections. Same approach.
Designed by DLuxe. Made by DLuxe. Handmade in England.
Why British-made clothing is worth supporting
Choosing British-made fashion isn’t only about where a label says a garment was designed.
It’s about supporting the skills behind making clothing.
Cutting, sewing, fitting, finishing and garment construction are crafts.
When customers choose clothing made in Britain by independent designers and makers, they help keep those skills alive while supporting much smaller businesses rather than only multinational fashion companies.
For DLuxe, British-made isn’t a marketing phrase added afterwards.
It’s part of how the brand works.
Limited doesn’t have to mean unattainable
Luxury fashion is often associated with extremely high prices and designer labels.
I think luxury can mean something slightly different.
It can mean knowing that somebody has actually spent time creating your garment.
It can mean owning one of only a handful produced.
It can mean beautiful fabric, careful construction and something that doesn’t appear on thousands of people immediately after launch.
DLuxe is about making that feeling more accessible.
Limited-run fashion without mass production.
The next chapter of DLuxe
The next DLuxe collection, Winter Sun, launches 1 September at 7pm, with DLuxe List members receiving early access.
As with future DLuxe collections, quantities will remain deliberately small.
Because I’d rather create fewer pieces with a clear identity than produce hundreds simply for the sake of having more stock.
That is the direction DLuxe is taking:
Independent British fashion.
Designed with intention.
Handmade in England.
Made to stand out.
